{"name":"Meditations on Repetition","description":"For Kierkegaard, repetition is the shared opposing surface of recollection: “Repetition and recollection are the same movement, except in opposite directions, for what is recollected has been, is repeated backward”. In the unconscious, backward repetition is the presentation or insistence on trauma; that is, that which exceeds symbolic meaning. Trauma speaks not through language or recollection, but through repeated compulsions, enactments and symptoms of unconscious identification. In certain possibilities, repetition becomes more rigid and sometimes unstable in maintaining its enigma. The scene depicts a subject gazing into a repetitive voyeurism of their own experience, devoid of difference. Each frame presented immutably the same as the next, with the subject unable to break from an anxious double-position—an anxiety of being the subject looked-upon (from behind), and actively looking onward at the back of another.\n\nThe work was entirely created in 3D, using light passes to support the composition’s environment.","image":"ipfs://QmVSt1zvdd5JzQd4LDg4wytxarc97w9VEyQx3JCymw7z1k","external_url":"https://www.1stdibs.com/nft/art/meditations-on-repetition/id-n_1SZrxPRcId/","animation_url":null,"created_year":"2019","attributes":[{"trait_type":"edition","value":"1/1"},{"trait_type":"medium","value":"3D"},{"trait_type":"year created","value":"2019"},{"trait_type":"category","value":"art"},{"trait_type":"artist","value":"Yebu-Tonu"}],"media":{"url":"ipfs://QmVSt1zvdd5JzQd4LDg4wytxarc97w9VEyQx3JCymw7z1k","web_url":"https://a.1stdibscdn.com/dist/nft/yebutonu/meditationsonrepetition.png","poster_frame_url":null,"mime_type":"image/png","dimensions":"4000x4000","duration":null,"video_thumb":null}}
